2019 In Review + Most Popular Posts

Happy 2020, y'all!

I honestly still haven't gotten used to saying or writing 2020 & it doesn't feel like 2019 was last year yet 😂

I'm a little behind on posting here; I lacked a Christmas home tour (which I'm honestly sad about, but this was a crazy season in our lives) and barely made it through with my gift guides by the skin of my teeth.

I didn't want to let the new year slip by me without a recap of 2019 and also sharing the years most popular posts with you all...so let's jump in!

Christopher & I kicked off 2019 with a bang by heading to New Orleans to attend the American Farm  Bureau Federation's conference where we were competing in the Achievement Award. We placed in the Top Ten nationally and were so excited to represent the state of Alabama so well! 

We also had so much fun taking Charlie to the aquarium in Atlanta for the first time with some of our sweet friends. He was such a little guy then & had so much fun taking in the whole experience.

In February, Charlie and I spent a lot of time at the farm watching Chris and his Papa work.
He has always loved the farm!

We also got to attend the Alabama Cattleman's Convention Tradeshow and we had so much fun talking to friends, checking out all the new technology, and even adding some toys to our Christmas list.

At the end of February, Charlie took his first trip to Mount Cheaha (the highest point in the state of Alabama). I love sharing my love of the outdoors and adventure with my boys!

The first weekend of March brought Charlie's first trip to the Alabama Young Farmer's Conference.

Chris & I have been going to this conference since before we were married, so it was so fun to bring Charlie to his first conference. It'll be so fun to watch him grow up with the Federation!

In March, this blue eyed guy was trying to crawl around and showing off his ability to sit up all by himself.

In April, we took Charlie out to one of our favorite local restaurants and he sat in a high chair by himself for the first time! This was the restaurant that we took him out to for the first time period, so to have another milestone there was sort of fun!

April also brought Charlie's first Easter and he was just so sweet, although I have to admit that I cannot wait for his second everything now because his second Christmas was so fun!

April also kicked off our season in the hayfields and Charlie's first experience with cutting, baling, and wrapping hay. He was so intent and just took it all in-this year he'll be knee deep in it!

We kicked off May with a trip to the state capital to receive resolutions from the House and Senate honoring our time and efforts spent as Outstanding Young Farm Family. We also had an audience with the Governor and many other notable figures while in Montgomery. We left there feeling even more grateful, proud, and overall just fired up to continue advocating for agriculture!

My first Mother's Day was so, so sweet and it included a Mother's Day lunch with both of our mom's and Chris' grandmother. I love spending holidays with both of our families!

Charlie also got to take his first trip to the lake & "drive" the boat for the first time in May!

We love spending time on the water during the summertime so this was just another sweet experience I was so grateful to share with Charlie!

We don't have a pool at our house, but thankfully my parents have one and Forrest & I took Charlie for his first swim at the end of May. He's such a water baby!

He enjoyed the big pool so much, we grabbed a plastic pool for our patio and Charlie loved playing in it all Summer long!

The Fourth of July was spent dockside at the lake hanging out with our friends, watching fireworks, and snuggling up to his mom.

Charlie and Forrest also had a mini photo shoot at Auburn on one of our trips there for Forrest.

They are such sweet brothers and I will forever treasure these moments and pictures.

On a whim one Sunday afternoon, Chris and I drove up to Mount Cheaha again walked out onto Bald Rock (you should definitely google it if you want to see some pretty views!)

I snapped this shot of Charlie & Forrest and it actually became a magazine cover this past month!

July is also the month that we celebrate Forrest's birthday (his Gotcha-Day from the shelter) and it wouldn't have been complete without a birthday hat pic!

On July 29, Miss Minnie Pearl the calf came into our lives-the cutest thing ever!
Her Mom was an older cow in our herd and she was unable to care for Minnie, so I became her adopted mom and raised her for several months until she was able to join the other calves out in the pasture. I still make a point to see Minnie each time I'm out in the pasture and to give her some scratches!

August brought a trip to Chattanooga for the Alabama Farmer's Federation's Commodity Conference.
We once again were so excited to bring Charlie and he loved the experience, especially the farm tour we went on (evidence below-"driving" the truck at the winery we toured!)

We also checked out the aquarium in Chattanooga and Charlie had so much fun!

We had our second annual County Cattleman's Rodeo and it was Charlie's first rodeo ever!
We had a lot of fun attending both nights and it's one of my most favorite small town traditions.

We finished August out with a baby shower for my oldest sister Trystan and her newest blessing, Miss Cleo! It was such a fun shower to throw (which I need to share on the blog 😂 Maybe one day!)

We kicked off September with some fun on the farm, hanging out with Daddy while he was cleaning up fence lines and creek banks at the farm with the excavator.

More fun was had in September with the baby pool-it got a little bit smaller when Charlie had to share with Forrest!

One of the most fun things we did this month this year was taking Charlie to Auburn's homecoming!
We went to the Ag-Roundup tailgate and then brought him down to Tiger Walk and the pep rally and y'all-I had literal tears seeing him experience Auburn and game-day for the first time, it was just so sweet seeing how much he enjoyed it.

On September 13th, 2019 Charles Levi turned ONE!

We had a fiesta and it was so fun!

In October, we snuck away for a little getaway to Grayton Beach with some of our sweet friends. I hope this is something we can do each year because it was just the best!

Of course, we couldn't let October sneak by without having some Halloween fun!
Charlie dressed up as a cow and visited some family and went to a local trunk-or-treat on Halloween night.

In November we went to see Aubie Claus and you can see how that went...😂

We were much happier when we put up our tree and sat by it with our own personal Aubie!

At the end of November, we went to some friends house to watch our Tigers win the Iron Bowl and my boy looked so grown up in his jersey, jeans, and boots!

December kicked off breeding season with our cattle herd and Charlie was doing his part, checking out the girls and making sure they were all doing okay!

Chris and I also had the opportunity to steal away down to Montgomery for a few hours to attend the Young Farmer's meetings at the Alabama Farmer's Federation's Annual Meeting.

We also snuck in some time to take some quick family pictures for our Christmas cards; they turned out so beautifully!

December also brought a chance to take Charlie to see Christmas lights for the first time!

We tried out the whole Santa thing and he loved seeing Santa's train set.

Christmas mornings brought all the most fun things; tractors, new chairs, trucks, and the sweetest Christmas pjs!

Doesn't everyone celebrate the day after Christmas by hanging out in cotton seed?!
Also the looks on these cows faces is too funny!

It was a wonderful, wonderful year & we were so blessed to spend it loving each other and loving Charlie. I can't wait to see what happens in 2020, but I have a feeling it's only going to get sweeter!

This was one of my favorite posts of the year as well, because 2019 is the year where I more fully embraced using Amazon.
I still love all of these things, but especially the wireless charger and my mop because they are used daily!

What Charlie Received for Christmas
This was such a great roundup of gift ideas for anyone that has a baby at Christmastime because he didn't really "want" anything because he was too little-so instead we focused on things that would serve him well for the next few months. We still use the booster seat & he adored that play piece until he absolutely outgrew it!

Grayton Beach Getaway
Y'all loved our beach trip almost as much as we did!
This post was a labor of love because I was trying to remember to take the pics but also trying to be present, I just knew I wanted to share this piece of paradise with you all and also Charlie's first beach trip!

I know none of us clean our brushes nearly enough (myself included!) but this silicone mat that just sticks inside of your sink with suction cups really makes the process so much easier.

I'm not a huge essential oil girl, but I do love the scent of lavender and how it does feel very calming and soothing. This pillow spray is a mix of lavender and some other oils that is supposed to help you sleep deeper and longer.

Striped Insulated Tote Bag

I have a few insulated totes around and love them all.

They're great for taking snacks in the car, packing goodies in to take to potlucks, bringing cold things home from the grocery store, and more.

This one can also be personalized with a monogram, which always makes for a special gift.

Toddler Gift Guide + Stocking Stuffers

Can y'all believe it's less than ten days until Christmas?!

I don't know if it's just the speed of life or just the business of the season, but I just have felt like this time of year has swept by me and I'm not ready!

Today I'm sharing a ton of my favorite toddler gifts (& some stocking stuffers). These are really geared toward a younger toddler, since Charlie is 15 months old. He has a lot of these items and a few are from his wishlist.

These Stacking Rings are a super affordable gift and have provided tons of entertainment for Charlie.

We don't personally have a Cozy Coupe at our house, but my parents keep one at theirs for Charlie to play with & Chris' parents have one too and I would say that it's probably in his top three favorite toys ever. My parent's honestly have to hide it at their house if I can only stop by for a few minutes because Charlie won't want to leave it!

Something that I never knew I needed, but I'm so grateful that it exists are Mitten Clips. After losing a pair of mittens because Charlie slipped them off without me noticing, I searched the internet and found a set of four clips. You just clip one end to the mitten and one end to their sleeve-they work great and are perfect for a stocking.

Charlie's birthday was just a few months ago and his favorite gift from the entire celebration was his Mickey Mouse Ride-On Airplane. It has tons of great sounds and he loves both pushing it around and riding on it. It was so popular, we even took it to Grayton Beach with us!

Books are my all-time favorite gift to give and receive and in my recent Amazon searches for children's books, I discovered Indestructibles books and added three to Charlie's Amazon wishlist because they are so cool. They are rip proof, waterproof, lightweight, and washable so they're perfect for little ones. They are also super affordable and would make a sweet stocking stuffer.

Charlie wears one of his Carhartt Knit Hats every single day. They are easy to toss in his bag, they keep his head warm, and wash very easily.

My favorite gifts are the ones that grow with kiddos, like the Smart Stages Puppy that Charlie got at one of my baby showers. He loved it as just a sweet stuffed animal when he was little and it has different stages of songs and things to teach him as he grows. It's very entertaining for him! It also comes in a girl version.

We originally bought Goodnight Tractor at the American Farm Bureau Convention for Charlie to have as a keepsake from our trip, but he loved the book so dang much that we ended up buying a second copy to preserve the special one! Since then, we've also added Goodnight Digger to the nightly rotation.

They also have Goodnight Princess available!

Another birthday gift that was a big hit was Charlie's small Rocking Horse. It's just his size and he loves rocking in front of the window or television.

Charlie's "big" gift from us this year is his Anywhere Chair with his name embroidered on it.

I snagged it for a great deal on Black Friday, but they still have it marked down right now. It's so lightweight and the cover comes right off, so you can wash it.

This is my selfish wishlist item for Charlie, but ever since discovering the Jeep Stroller Wagon I've been dying to get it for us! It's got so many great points like the canopy or the fact that it can handle both like a stroller or a wagon. It also has a car seat base or two five-point-harnesses for older kids. I think it would be awesome for neighborhood walks or trips to the zoo. So many possibilities!

Last but not least, to go with your mitten clips you need your Mittens! These are the best mittens I've found for little ones that stay on (especially with the help of those clips). They are also an awesome value for the three pairs.

This was in Chris' stocking a few years ago and it honestly lasts forever.

I am a huge proponent of Yeti Ramblers.

They keep your drinks cold, they don't sweat, and they look nice.

In fact, I'm drinking out of one as I type this post!

Sephora Favorites Cologne Sampler

I think these Sephora sets are great because they include tons of different colognes samples that he can obviously use, but once he picks a favorite he (or let's be honest, he can send you) back to Sephora with a gift card for the scent that he likes the best and then he'll get a full size of whichever he picks. Plus, it comes with a really nice dopp kit.

Carhartt Knit Hat

I'm a little bit obsessed with my discovery of knit hats at the moment and I personally enjoy wearing them myself, but this is an awesome and VERY affordable gift or stocking stuffer for the guy in your life if he ever goes outside at all.

These hats are so, so warm and easily fit in your pocket too.

Magnetic Wristband

Another great stocking stuffer idea for the guy that does any sort of work or hobby that involves nails, screws, etc.

This wristband simply velcros around your wrist and has a magnet inside it that holds onto all of your metal items and keeps them safely in reach!

Wireless Charger Pad

I think the best invention that Apple ever made was the capability of wireless charging.

I bought a really simple and inexpensive wireless charging pad for $15 that would be an awesome stocking stuffer. But the one shown is obviously more expensive, but it is leather and can charge two devices at one time.

Colorado Smoke Grilling Spice and Rub

I know that personally my husband is a big fan of cooking on our various grills, so this would be another affordable stocking stuffer option for guys like him!

Patterned Socks

A useful and colorful option for the stocking.

What Do You Meme? Card Game

This is a super fun stocking stuffer or gift option that leads to even more fun down the road!

Invite your friends or family over on Christmas Day-Night for a fun game night and break out your new cards.

LL Bean Wicked Good Slipper Moccasins

LL Bean's slippers are very much hyped up, but the shearling liner (hello warm!) and the bottom which is designed for outside use make them a clear winner above the rest.

Plus, they are great for all range brackets from your son who is off to college or your father-in-law who wants to kick back by the fireplace.

Ladder Ball Yard Game

This is such a fun game for all ages-we actually had this game at our wedding for our guests to play!

It's super affordable and includes a storage bag for easy transportation.

A Cross to Kill Action Novel

Depending on the man in your life's tastes, a book could be right up his alley and I think this would be an excellent one!

This novel is based off of an ex CIA assassin who has turned over a new leaf and become a small-town pastor who just wants to leave his life behind.

The book is a clean, Christian novel as well which I know lots of men will appreciate.

I enjoyed the suspense built by this novel, and although I thought the fight scenes had a tendency to become a bit tedious, I bet they would win over the men in your life because of their attention to detail!

With the Thanksgiving holiday coming up and then all of the Christmas get-togethers following shortly afterwards, it's the season in which we need to stock up on gifts for those who are hosting us for lunches, dinners, white elephant gift swaps, etc.

I tried to keep these items under $25 and a majority are closer to the $10-15 range because I know if you have multiple parties to go to, it gets difficult to spend a lot on a hostess gift.

This one is under $10 right now & would be an awesome gift for those that love to cook. Bookmark your favorite recipes for a special touch.

These journals are such a great small gift, you could split them into three separate ones or give all three together.

This is on my personal wishlist & I think it would make an awesome hostess gift, especially if you paired it with a local bottle of wine.

Nest Hand Soap

With the holidays come lots of guests & with lots of guests come lots of (hopefully) hand washing.

Give your host or hostess the gift of a luxe hand soap that will dress up their washroom and make the experience a little nicer for everyone.

Embroidered Ornament

A beautiful ornament makes for an excellent hostess gift, you can tailor it to their decor, get a personalized one, or just stick with something classic, elegant, and beautiful.

A big plus? Ornaments can be very affordable!

Set of 4 Spreaders

One of my favorite parts of entertaining is using all of my serving pieces that I don't pull out on the daily. These spreaders and this Slate Serving Board are perfect for the host and hostess that love to entertain. They're affordable, but still stunning. You can also write on the serving board with chalk, so you can label everything you're serving!

Candle

The classic hostess gift, a beautiful high-end candle!

I think a Bath & Body Works or Target candle could be just as good, but the Capri Blue or a Nest candle would be a thoughtful gift for sure.

Ten on Tuesday [No.63]

 Happy belated Halloween, y'all!

Charlie went as a little cow & man, was he super cute.

Our power actually went out as we were getting ready to go trick-or-treating, so we selfied with our pumpkin in the dark 😂

But luckily, by the time we wrapped up our visiting with everyone, our power was back on!

 TWO

Charlie, Forrest, my mom, my dad, and my middle sister all walked downtown (Chris & I live about a five minute walk from the center of our town) for our annual Heritage Day that our town puts on each year. It's always so fun to catch up with people, see all the fun things being sold, and just get some nice fresh air and sunshine. Plus, everyone loves how stinkin' cute Charlie & Forrest are!

P.S. My sweatshirt is from Mallory Ervin's summer line & y'all-it's the best. It's the perfect "Southern-weight" sweatshirt and as an Auburn girl, I love the tiger on the front!

 THREE

 We have been soaking up all of the nice Fall weather by playing outside & I will be so sad when we have to be all bundled up just to enjoy a little outside time.

Charlie loves playing with rocks and whatever else he finds outside & sometimes we even have snack time outside-his current favorite on-the-go snack right now is the "Inner Peas" from Trader Joes-I have to admit, they're pretty tasty!

 I'm also loving all the Fall color in our neighborhood & had to convince Charlie to pose for a quick picture Sunday afternoon with some of our neighbors beautiful trees in the background.

So the other day my sister, Charlie, and I were browsing around Target and I discovered this wagon/stroller combo and now I think I need it 🙈
The price tag is a little rich for my blood, but I've bookmarked it so maybe it will go on sale & I can snag it!

FIVE

The Biltmore Estate has decorated for Christmas & it's giving me all the cozy vibes!
I've been to Biltmore once when I was much younger, so I would love to go again any time of year-but definitely Christmas!

SIX

If you're looking for the greatest Thanksgiving outfit of all time for all of your family/eating shenanigans then look no further than Scarlet & Gold.
The Casserole tee is my favorite because it's hilarious, but if you're looking for something a little more serious & absolutely beautiful then the Grateful tee is right up your alley.
I would pair either tee with a cozy cardigan to dress it up a little bit & to hide that turkey food baby!

SEVEN

This coming May, Christopher & I will celebrate five years of marriage and we've both been discussing heading back to Savannah (where we originally honeymoon'd) and spending some time back in that sweet city that means so much to us.
Garden & Gun covered some new places that have popped up in Savannah and I'm eager to check them out!

EIGHT

Chris' brother got married this past Saturday & the reception was held at the Lodge of a family friend, the view from the back porch is stunning year 'round, but especially this weekend when Alabama was at peak color.

 We had Aubie-Claus (aka Auburn's mascot, Aubie, dressed up as Santa) pictures Saturday morning in Auburn before the wedding, so we made a flying trip down there & back to make sure we could be at both.

Charlie wore the sweetest long-all and y'all, the back just kills me with how sweet it is.

 Isn't that tiger tail just the cutest?!

Chris' brother's wife has the sweetest little boy & Charlie loved taking a picture with him at the reception!
